Welded Stainless steel Pipe

As steel welding technology improved, welded stainless steel pipes were also born and gradually gained a foothold in the market.

Industrial welded stainless steel pipes

When steel welding technology improved, welded stainless steel pipes were also born. Unlike cast pipes made from solid cylindrical billets, welded pipes are made from stainless steel plates. From the original stainless steel plates, the stainless steel plates will be straightened, bent into tubes, and welded along the tube wall connecting the first and last edges. This is the basis of the stainless steel welded pipe manufacturing process.

Characteristics of industrial welded stainless steel pipes

Welded stainless steel pipes still have the characteristics of stainless steel. For example, 304 stainless steel welded pipes still have the properties of 304 stainless steel (good corrosion resistance in many environments), 316 stainless steel welded pipes still have the properties of 316 stainless steel.

In addition, welded stainless steel pipes have the following outstanding features:

  • Good corrosion resistance, equivalent to cast pipes. However, the pressure resistance is lower, only 80% (according to some research documents) compared to cast pipes.
  • Therefore, in extreme cases and high pressure, you can consider using cast stainless steel pipes.
  • Better bearing capacity (in some cases) than plastic pipes.
  • Price is lower than cast pipes.
  • Long pipes can be manufactured.
  • Shorter production time.

Applications of welded stainless steel pipes in industry and life

Basically, the application of welded stainless steel pipes is still the general application of stainless steel pipes and accessories…

Industrial welded stainless steel pipes are used in the following industries:

  • Industrial construction industry – Industrial M&E Package (Industrial M$E).
  • High-rise building construction industry – Construction M&E (Construction M&E).
  • Environmental industry – Waste Water Treatment.
  • Petroleum and petrochemical industry (Petroleum – Oil & Gas).
  • Gas supply industry (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, helium).
  • Chemical Industry.
  • And other industries.

In addition, welded stainless steel pipes can also be used as pipes for high-rise buildings.

In each project, depending on the specific conditions, technical details and price, the design engineer will choose to use cast or welded pipes.

In harsh conditions such as requiring the ability to withstand high pressure; working under the sea; pipelines for chemicals and petrochemicals; leak-proof requirements;… then cast stainless steel pipes are often preferred because of their high uniformity.

Standard table of chemical composition of welded stainless steel pipes

At QMS, in terms of substance composition, welded stainless steel pipes comply with ASTM A312/312M, A358/A358M standards.

In terms of size, pipes comply with ASME B36 standards. 19M, B36. 10M.
